I hope that you were all able to be outside and enjoy some of this warmer weather and beautiful sunshine! We were able to get outside and take the dogs for a walk, play some softball, and get a start on some outdoor home projects.
I can't believe how quickly this past school went flew by! We had a great week and the kids worked hard and we had some fun along the way. Last week I filled you in on our next units of study in reading, writing, and math and what we were going to be up to this past week. So, I have nothing new to add here.
In Social Studies we will be studying history where we will look at the terms past, present, and future. We will try to imagine what life was like long ago and compare and contrast life long ago with life today. I have a great slide show I share with the kids that show what cars, clothing, and schools were like at the different decades. Boy, do I get a laugh every time I see some of those clothes (80's and 90's ahem...) and a longing for some of the really sweet cars. The kids love seeing how things have changed and yes, they even laugh at the crazy hairdos and clothing choices. I do remind them that someday their kids will do the same to them :) We will also continue our conversations of some influential people in history and get a chance to work in a group and make posters of these people. I am excited to watch them work together to create a teaching tool for the rest of the class.
A couple reminders:
February 23 there is a parent club meeting at 7pm
March 5 is the Park Carnival
March 7 there is no school for students - record day
Parent/Teacher conferences are the week of the 14th. More information will be coming home about that.
I think that is all for now. If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
