This will be my last post until after Christmas break. If I need to relay any information before break, I will send out an e-mail.
We have our Christmas program on Tuesday night! I am super excited - I just look forward to this every year. An information packet from Mr. Bouwman went home last week. If you did not receive it and need the information, please let me know. We do have a Christmas rehearsal at the church on Tuesday morning. We will be taking a bus over there with the kids.
Also, our class Christmas party will be on Thursday, December 21 from 2:45 - 3:30. I have one person coming up with and running a game/activity. I would like another person if anyone is willing; just let me know. I will send an e-mail out shortly to remind parents who volunteered food :) Thank you all in advance for helping make this party special for the kids!
In reading we will be wrapping up our unit on characters before break. We will have a final "project" the kids will do to teach us about one of their favorite characters. I will work on this with the kids later this week and then the last week.
In writing we will be wrapping up our persuasive letters. The kids will pick one of their letters to rewrite as a neat copy and "mail" it out. Then, I will have them write one final letter to me as a grade - this will be a letter they didn't have any help with.
In math we will continue our unit covering comparisons and seeing numbers as ones and tens. We will learn how to add numbers using this knowledge as well as learning how to make a new ten. We will not finish this unit before break. When we come back from break we will do a bit of review and then finish the unit.
On Thursday, we started the 12 days of Christmas. Each day I have fun activities planned for the kids, some of which will tie into our daily curriculum and others are a bit extra. We will also do some Christmas Around the World activities the last week of school.
I hope that all of you have a blessed and safe Christmas with your family and friends!
