Last week we took our unit 7 math test and our unit 8 pretest. This week we will begin our very last unit in math this year! This unit covers double digit addition; including carrying over (or what we will also call making a new 10.) . Because we just took a test we did not have any homework go home this past weekend. I will be sending homework home next weekend though.
In reading we have been working hard on understanding our characters and making predictions based off of what we know about them. We are being detectives and spying for those changes in our characters and what made the change. We also have been practicing our readers voice; making it sound like the characters. We will wrap up this unit by doing some readers theaters for each other. We have just gotten our parts and will practice over the next couple of weeks :) . We spent the last couple of weeks working on brochures with partners showing off one of our favorite books. Here are a few pics of the kids working on them and getting in front of class and presenting their brochures. The kids did so great!
In social studies we will wrap up our last unit by taking a test. This will cover what makes us good citizens. We will move on to learning about weather, starting with the sun.
If you have not turned in your zoo money, please do so as quickly as possible. Thanks! A reminder letter will go home as we get closer to the date - I can't wait!
Enjoy some pictures of the kids exploring with blocks during our math time as well as pictures from earth day! We followed a story of Freddy the Fish as he swam along a river and found all kinds of pollutants. We followed up with a talk of how we could make sure we protect our earth. The kids had a great time with both these activities as they explored, experienced, and thought through their work.
