Last week we had some fun with apples. We did some science experiments with placing apple slices in different liquids to see what would happen. We also took the different parts of the apple into water to see if they would float or sink. Boy where we surprised by some of the results! We also learned about Johnny Appleseed and did apple prints and taste tested apples. Golden delicious was the clear winner :) . I was so engrossed with the kids and their learning that I forgot to take pics - sorry!
In phonics we continue to use snap words (popcorn words) to spell words correctly in our writing and to read in a snap in our reading. We will begin to see that we can make new words using our snap words which will help us in our writing.
In reading we learning more about vowels and how we can try different sounds with an unknown word. We will also focus on our work as partners and how we can support each other.
In writing we are going to be looking at our favorite books and noticing the craft the author uses. We will take that and try it ourselves in our own stories. We will then turn our work to revising our writing.
In math we will continue our work with math partners and using this information to write equations. We will also begin working on writing subtraction equations as well.
Have a great week!
