We did finish our math unit and took our math test on Friday. Our next unit, which will be our last, will cover double digit addition. We will be taking our pre-test on Monday and then jump right in.
This coming week will be our last week for our non-fiction writing. The following week, the kids will write their final non-fiction book for me to grade and we will wrap up the unit with a writers celebration.
We will continue to discuss characters during our reading time as well as continuing our book clubs. Most of our groups are finishing up their first book and will move into their second book later this week or the beginning of the following week. They will have more independence in their group discussions with this second book.
In science we will wrap our weather unit this week and move on to animals. We should be getting our caterpillars this week, which is always an exciting time in first grade! We will be able to observe these caterpillars and watch them grow and transform and then have a release party when they all emerge from their chrysalis'.
Just a reminder that we have an early release day for the kids this Friday, May 11. There is also a parent club meeting on Tuesday, May 8 at 9:00 in the teacher's lounge.
Have a great week!
