No matter what you did this weekend, I hope that you enjoyed it! The weather was certainly nice :)
A few reminders:
Please mark your calendars for October 5 - this is the date of the football game. I still have not received the tickets yet, but when I do I will let you know.
Tomorrow is our star party! I will be providing the glow sticks for the kiddos. It will be a fun time celebrating their success in the classroom :) .
This week is our can drive. If you are willing to donate your returnables to our 5th graders, please send them in with your child. The top collecting class will participate in a fun event with the top collecting 5th grade class. All of the money raised through our can drive will go directly to our 5th graders to help with the cost of camp.
We have library on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Here is what we will be working on this week:
Math - we will be reviewing our first unit and will be taking our test on Wednesday. The test will cover groups of 5 and extra ones, partners and switch partners of numbers, addition and subtraction, and drawing story problems.
Reading - we will be studying comparing and contrasting books as well as talking about comprehension.
Writing - we will be working to add details to our stories. Details help to make our stories come alive. A new thing the kids will be learning is how to add in dialogue. I love watching the kids learn this skill! They get so excited to try this out in their stories!
We will also be talking about and studying apples. We will cap this off on Friday with a fun apple stamping activity, apple taste testing, and some science experiments to go along with apples.
I hope you have a great week!
