What a surprise this morning! I knew we were going to get snow, but not that much! The kids seemed to not mind it too much :)
We finished up our math unit on comparison bars last week and we are going to be taking a break before our next math unit to be doing some review of some past concepts to strengthen our number sense foundation.
In reading we will be wrapping up our current unit and will be moving to our unit of studying topics across multiple genres. This is where we will incorporate some of our science concepts such as weather, animal habitats, and animal features all while reading about them in poetry, fiction, and non-fiction texts.
In writing we will be spending a few weeks reviewing opinion writing. I feel that we could build that concept a little bit stronger so we will be using March is Reading month to help us form opinions about books we read. We will be writing a letter to the author of a book or to a classmate. In these letters we will be sharing our opinions of whether or not we liked the book and if we would recommend our classmates to read it. We will also include why we feel this way.
Today we had a writers celebration! We read our stories to each other and shared two reasons why we liked our partners story. It was really fun hearing the kids celebrate each other and compliment each others stories.
Report cards will come home on Friday in your child's backpack so be looking for those.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
