We had many exciting things happen this week. First, we had our annual Turkey Trot and had a ton of kids from the district show up to run. We had quite a few kids from our classroom come out and run and we even had a winner in our midst. Congratulations Lakelyn! Everyone ran well and did their best. Overall it was a very fun evening. I tried to get pictures of all our kiddos, but if I missed some I apologize.
Later in the day we had our Halloween parade in our building because of the weather. The kids were bummed that they couldn't go to The Laurels, but were happy to see each others costumes and still have a parade. Then we had our Halloween Party. Thank you to all the moms who helped to make this party a HUGE success! From planning games and activities to bringing in food, drinks, and plates/napkins.
In reading our overall theme this week will be how we can use our reading partners to help us with our understanding on our stories. We will discuss the different ways we can use our partners (using them to help us with tricky words, retelling the story to our partners and using words such as first, next, then, after that, and last, and then using our partners for checking for understanding.) We will be wrapping up unit 2 this week in reading.
In writing we will also be wrapping up our unit 2. Our overall theme this week will be using our partners to help us revise our stories. We will have a chance to pick our favorite story so far this unit and fix and fancy it up. We will be having a writer's celebration on Friday.
The kids have earned their pajama party! My plan is to have this on Friday of this week. The kids may wear their pajamas to school and bring in a stuffed animal. They may also bring in either a blanket or a pillow.
On a side note, the library will be closed this week due to the book fair. We will resume with our regular library days and times after this week. Thanks for being understanding.
